My college roommate cut out a particularly funny panel of The Simpsons creator Matt Groening’s Life in Hell comic strip and taped it to the fridge. It was about those perennially awkward questions kids ask adults. One was, “When I grow up will you be dead?” Another was, “If God is everywhere, is he in the toilet?”
If you’re one of those people that ponder such impenetrable mysteries, or are at least mildly interested in deciphering the mystical mumbo-jumbo you’ve come across over the years, like “God is closer to you than your jugular vein,” then this is the right place for you.
If you’re ever wondered how God can be infinite and yet remain outside of Hell. If you’ve ever wondered how God can be unconditionally loving yet still barbecue His children like asbestos chicken that’s never quite done, this blog is for you. Or maybe you’re just a parent looking for some good answers to pass along to the kids.
Let’s begin by answering Matt’s question.
